There was a fascinating topic discussed last night on Insight (SBS), called "Top of the Class", which I think you would find interesting. The thoughts of Doug Lemov regarding the measurement of teacher quality are particularly timely.

Hey Tom,
ReplyDeleteI clicked on the watch online link and it sent me to Scotch's site - Whoo! Could've been rickrolled. Or duckrolled. I guess Scotch rolling is better.
Julie
Yo Julie, thanks for the IT ring-a-ding-ding on my wiki thing (that's me rapping). How about heading to the SBS website, and then the Insight link. For some reason, and I can't see no reason, cause there are no reasons, what reason do you need, ooh oh oh, why it's going to the Scotch link.
ReplyDeleteWow Tom, that is by far the most painful comment I have read in any web 2.0 function. I locked myself in my room to escape your rap singing and now I find it on the web in written format and voiced by a dog! Mark what have you created?!?
ReplyDeletethanks Tom for the text about the insight show. I was a bit depressed watching it, thinking that the ideas of a close relationship with schools as the Melbourne Master of teaching preached, was initially the idea of our own Master's, something I feel we have lost over the course of our two years. We will end up with a graduate diploma in teaching in most people's eyes, when it could have been so much more. I would have loved to be in a classroom from day dot, even for one day a week and write assignments based on the class we were in, rather than these artificial classes that we have created so far. We could have mixed around the year groups and had a different year each semester.
